Come see the exhibition at Basildon Library
Proud to say that my work will be on display all through April next year at Basildon Library. Go check it out! #art #spaceart #basildon
Quick pastel sketch. Had this image in my head all morning and wanted to get it out.
After climbing Snowdon last week, I was eager to paint a mountain again. This was originally the escape pod carrying R2D2 and C3PO (which is now the small moon- it is a small moon, not a death star) with Tatooine in the background (now the planet) but it didn’t work out and I like to try and rescue canvases where I can.
xxxrays asked: I dig your work, man! I'm jealous that I can't paint like you. You should try scanning your images, it'd be nice to see them close up. :)
Thanks very much! I like your blog. Awesome weird. Yeah so I can paint but I cannot take photographs to save my life. It’s extremely irritating. Your idea of scanning is probably wise in this case.
Finally finished. Three paintings, three planets, one moon.
So close to finishing! Pretty happy with Jupiter.
I’ve played through Portal 1 and 2 more times than I like to admit and the ending of 2 was super satisfying. Thought I’d whip up a couple of 7x7cm canvasses to show my geekdom. In case you’re wondering, one is a painting of the moon from the moon and the other is a painting of the earth from the earth. Yeah it makes sense. Just kinda hurts my brain.
Yeah I don’t think I like it. The ridge is annoying and breaks up the picture too much and Neptune just looks scrappy. Much tweaking needed. I’m also uncomfortable with the fact that Triton is not black and white but mostly white and Neptune would be twice the size if you were actually there. Bleugh.
Clementine 2 in progress… gunna be neptune in the background when I can figure out how big to make it
So most people have probably seen this image of the recent transit of Venus. A superb photo which I decided to knock up into a painting for my Dad for fathers day. I like space. He likes planes. It seemed to be something we could both enjoy. Sorry if I’ve copyrighted on someones toes.
My girlfriend bought me a space art book for my birthday which was the highlight of the day. This is inspired by one of the designs in that book. I wasn’t sure about the suggested colours for mars so I dulled it down a bit. I might touch it up some more if I get the time but I’m not unhappy with it.
I had to change the surface of the moon. It was driving me nuts. More texture now and not quite so linear.
